Editor's Note
As autumn settles in, the crisp air and golden leaves invite us to seek comfort and warmth indoors. The season’s gentle shift encourages reflection, renewal, and the nurturing of both body and spirit. I have found that the Eleventh-Step Prayer offers a powerful way to move from self-absorption to purposeful action. When I applied this prayer, I was able to shift my focus from my thoughts of discontent and food to my hands, rediscovering a childhood desire to learn to sew. Working on my vintage Singer Featherweight 221 from 1933 and taking a beginner’s quilting class has renewed my spirit.

Everyone has a second act waiting to be discovered. With the help of your Higher Power, you can explore quieting food noise by embracing new passions and possibilities.
As Singer sewing instructor Mary Brooks Picken wisely observed, “When the mind and hands are occupied with the creation of something useful and attractive, there is no room for discontent, boredom, worry, or fear, and there are few pleasures to equal the sense of accomplishment of holding in one’s hands the skillfully finished product of one’s own efforts.” How might you use the Eleventh-Step Prayer to move out of your head and into your hands?
