Editor's Note

As we close another year, I find myself reflecting deeply on the meaning of Step Twelve in OA: “Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to compulsive overeaters and to practice these principles in all our affairs.” This step is not just about reaching the end of a journey—it’s about beginning a new chapter of service and spiritual growth.
Practicing Step Twelve invites us to share our experience, strength, and hope with others, both inside and outside the Fellowship. It’s a call to extend compassion, understanding, and support to those who are still struggling. In doing so, we reinforce our own recovery and deepen our spiritual connection.
Spiritual practice is at the heart of Step Twelve. Whether through prayer, meditation, or mindful action, we seek guidance and strength from our Higher Power. Each day offers a new opportunity to live these principles—not perfectly, but with sincerity and humility. The Twelfth-Step Prayer reminds us to be grateful for the help we have received and to pass it on, walking together on the road of spiritual progress.
As you reflect on your own journey, consider how you can carry the message and practice these principles in all your affairs. Service, kindness, and spiritual growth are gifts we give and receive, one day at a time. |
